Role Summary:

Octopus Digital (Subsidiary of Avanceon) is looking for a talented Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer with a strong emphasis on PowerBI and data engineering skills to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in creating insightful PowerBI dashboards, data modeling, and working with data sources. Additionally, a background in data engineering is a plus.

Job Description:

  • PowerBI Development: Design, develop, and maintain interactive and insightful PowerBI reports and dashboards.
  • Data Modeling: Create and manage data models in PowerBI, including defining relationships, measures, and calculated columns.
  • M Query Language: Utilize M Query language for data transformation and query optimization in PowerBI.
  • Data Source Connectivity: Connect to various data sources (e.g., databases, APIs, cloud services) and ensure seamless data integration into PowerBI.
  • Mock-ups: Develop mock-ups and prototypes for PowerBI dashboards using tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or similar to visualize and iterate on design concepts.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, understand business needs, and deliver data-driven solutions.
  • Documentation: Document PowerBI solutions, including data models, reports, and dashboards, for future reference and knowledge sharing.
  • Performance Optimization: Ensure the performance and efficiency of PowerBI reports and dashboards, optimizing for speed and usability.

    Qualification & Skillset

    • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
    • 2 to 5 years of experience in BI development with a strong focus on PowerBI.
    • Proficiency in PowerBI, including data modeling, DAX, report creation, and dashboard design.
    • Experience with M Query language for data transformation and query optimization.
    • Knowledge of connecting to and integrating various data sources within PowerBI.
    • Basic knowledge of data engineering concepts and tools (e.g., ETL processes, data warehousing).
    • Familiarity with SQL for querying databases and basic programming skills in languages like Python or R is a plus.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effectively collaborating with stakeholders and presenting findings.

    Additional Qualifications:

    • Certifications: Relevant certifications in PowerBI or data engineering (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate).
    • Experience with Data Engineering Tools: Familiarity with data engineering tools and platforms (e.g., Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue) is a plus.
    • Data Engineering Knowledge: Understanding of data engineering concepts and practices, including data integration, ETL, and data warehousing.
